Hello BPL book lovers

This year’s theme for the adult summer reading game is literary elements. This summer, it spans from June 24 to Aug. 31, 2014. Register by presenting your library card to any reference librarian. You’ll receive your reading game packet on the spot. Fill out a raffle ticket for each book you read, then mark your calendar for the grand prize drawing to be held on Tuesday, Sept. 2.

Dr. Dewey’s crazy lab

Stay tuned as we reveal new plot twists in the exciting adventures of Dr. Dewey. You decide what will happen. Vote each week to choose the path we follow as we access more and more of Dr. Dewey’s crazy lab experiments.

Summer daze

It’s a creative writing workshop for seniors on Saturdays starting July 19 to Aug. 23, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the board room. No previous workshop experience is necessary. All genres welcome.

Is it magic or science?

The Library will host an event where children 7 and up can come an make magic happen. Using science to make fun potions, children will have the opportunity to learn and play in this zany class. Registration is required. Call 337.7680 x34, register online, or email brokids34@gmail.com.

“Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return”

Friday, Aug. 29, at 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Dorothy’s only just returned home from her first incredible journey to Oz, but she’s already being called back for another adventure! After waking to post-tornado Kansas, Dorothy and Toto are whisked to Oz on a magical rainbow mover sent by their old friends the Scarecrow, the Lion and the Tin Man. Time in Oz has passed much faster than back in Kansas, and Dorothy discovers that the Jester, the devious brother of the Wicked Witch of the West, is taking Oz over one region at a time. Rated PG, 88 min.

Bronxville Women’s Club events

Art sessions

The Bronxville Women’s Club offers free art sessions to its members on Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Members bring their own supplies and enjoy an afternoon of drawing, sketching or painting with the company of fellow members and their immediate families. Good News coffee house

The next Good News Christian Coffee House will be held on Saturday, Aug. 9, featuring Frank Rendo. The Coffee House opens at 7 p.m. with coffee and pastries, and the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for students, $3 for children ages five to 12.
