Mamaroneck Public Library events

The Mamaroneck Public Library announces Adults who are card holders in good standing may borrow ipads. Library iPads circulate for two weeks and can be reserved at the reference desk 630-5888. They may be used at any location that has a wireless connection and are pre-loaded with e-books. Whether you need an ipad to take on vacation or want to give one a try before you buy your own, ipads can be used both for learning and fun. A limited quantity is available, call 630-5075 for more information.

Required reads roundtable

For Hommocks, Rye Neck Middle School, Mamaroneck High School and Rye Neck High School students.

Meets at 4:30 p.m. in the Mamaroneck Teen Library on Tuesday, Aug. 12.

Larchmont new movie matinee

“Muppets Most Wanted” Wednesday, Aug. 13 at 11 a.m. or 2:30 p.m. Meet in the Village Center. 

Disney’s “Muppets Most Wanted” takes the entire Muppets gang on a global tour, selling out grand theaters in some of Europe’s most exciting destinations, including Berlin, Madrid, Dublin and London. Mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine, the world’s number one criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit the Frog-and his dastardly sidekick Dominic who is also known as number two, he is  portrayed by Ricky Gervais. The film stars Tina Fey as Nadya, a feisty prison guard, and Ty Burrell as Interpol agent Jean Pierre Napoleon.  This film is rated PG.

Just when you think you’ve heard the craziest thing ever, someone in these games will get asked a question that’s crazier still. Story laboratory: Ocean adventure Ages 3 to 4

Thursday, Aug. 14 at 2:15 p.m. Registration required. From “Swimmy” by Leo Lionni to “The Pout-Pout Fish” by Deborah Diesen, hear about some underwater adventures. See how science can create the ocean in a bottle.

Five-hour pre-licensing class

Formula One Driving School, located at 584 Mamaroneck Ave., Mamaroneck, has the five-hour pre-licensing class scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 10, at 10 a.m.; Wednesday, Aug. 13, at 4 p.m.; Saturday Aug. 16, at 10 a.m.; Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 4 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 23 at 10 a.m.; Wednesday, Aug. 27, at 4 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 30, at 10 a.m.

This class is required by New York State for new drivers before they can take their road test.
