Let’s help save the Earth
Saturday, Nov. 2 at 10 a.m. Westchester Children’s Museum presents Science Saturdays for 3 to 5 year olds. Fun recycling and composting activities help children discover simple ways to go green and how small, wiggly worms and food scraps improve our soil. Pre-registration is required. Limited to 20 children.
English conversation group
Monday, Nov. 4 at 11 a.m. Non-native English speakers, practice your English and make new friends in an informal, volunteer-led setting, and learn about the library, too. No need to register or signup. Just show up.
Combined book talk and book club with local author Susie Orman Schnall
Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. Join Susie Orman Schnall, author of “On Grace” as she talks about her new book and signs copies at the library. “On Grace” is a moving and vibrant debut that packs a sweet emotional punch. You’ll laugh and cry along with Grace as she treads the complicated waters of marriage, motherhood, an unexpected betrayal, and a revelation that changes everything. Cancer support available

Support Connection, Inc., a not-for-profit organization that provides free, confidential support services for people affected by breast and ovarian cancer, offers a wide range of free support groups women with breast and ovarian cancer. Groups focus on topics pertaining to living with cancer through all stages of diagnosis, treatment and post-treatment. They are offered in Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess and by toll-free teleconference. Young women’s breast cancer support group: For women who have or had breast cancer at a young age. Second Wednesday of the month, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m.
At Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt Manor:
Breast cancer support group: Third Monday of the month, Nov.18, at 7 p.m.
At the Yorktown Town Hall in Yorktown Heights:
Support group for women living with recurrence: For women living with recurrence of breast or ovarian cancer, with advanced stage and/or metastasis: Third Friday of the month, Nov.15, at 12:30 p.m.
At Northern Westchester Hospital at Chappaqua Crossing, Chappaqua:
Breast and ovarian cancer support group: First Thursday of the month, Nov 7, at 7 p.m.
By teleconference:
For those unable to attend groups in person, there are monthly telephone support groups via toll-free teleconference enabling women to participate regardless of their location and from the comfort of their homes. Call a few days ahead to learn how to participate. The ovarian cancer telephone group will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 8 p.m. The breast cancer telephone group will take place on Tuesday, Nov.19, at 8 p.m.
