As April lazily rolled into May, and May even more slowly into June, people of all ages were counting down the days until the Good Humor truck became a daily staple, bathing suits could be dusted off, and the family minivan could be packed full of boogie boards and beach toys. For Rye residents, the warmer months also mean one more item to add to their list of annual summertime delights: the Rye Sidewalk Sale.
This year, Rye celebrated its 37th consecutive year of sidewalk sale success with local patrons showing up to walk the sale every day. Although July 25 brought with it an unseasonal chill, it also brought the opening of the sale. Locals continued to come out all day long to shop the first day of the sidewalk sale, more than happy to catch a break from the previous week’s heat wave.
