After throwing four touchdown passes in the Garnets’ season-opening victory on Sept. 7, junior Andrew Livingston has been named the first Athlete of the Week for the 2013-2014 school year.
Livingston went 11 for 19 passing for a total of 347 yards and four touchdowns. He also had key runs to help lead the Garnets to a 38-6 victory over Spring Valley in front of a Friday night home crowd.
Andrew, who took over quarterbacking duties in his freshman year, has been named team captain in both his sophomore and junior seasons, and is unarguably one of the Garnets’ most important players on the offensive side of the ball.
“Andrew continues to impress on and off the field. He is a true leader in every sense of the word,” said Garnet assistant coach Mike Bruno. “His off-season work ethic and dedication has put himself and his team in a position to be successful.”
One of Livingston’s greatest strengths has been his ability to spread the ball out among his receiving corps, as he has been able to connect with Drew Abate, Tim DeGraw, Jay Little, Chase Pratt and Chris Santangelo on passing plays.
“Andrew is a great leader as well as a friend,” teammate Sam Lubek said. “He’s always trying to make the team better.”
