Police were called to the CVS on Halstead Avenue at 7:58 a.m. by a store supervisor reporting a theft. Police apprehended a 55-year-old male, a Valhalla native, who had attempted to steal eight electric toothbrushes from the store. Furman was place under arrest and taken to police headquarters.
At 6:05 p.m., police stopped a speeding vehicle on Westchester Avenue. Police officers noticed the smell of marijuana emanating from the vehicle and a vehicle search yielded two bags of marijuana and a pipe containing marijuana residue. The driver, 33, was arrested.
At 11:07 p.m., a vehicle stop on Westchester Avenue alerted police to the smell of marijuana in the car. A female, 54, was booked on possession charges.
Police stopped a vehicle for speeding on Crystal Street at 1:09 p.m. and a background check on the driver revealed that his license had been suspended. The defendant was placed under arrest and a subsequent inventory search of the vehicle revealed a small amount of marijuana which the driver admitted belonged to him.
At 7:55 p.m., police stopped a vehicle traveling on Old Orchard Street for non-transparent windows. Upon approaching the car, police noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the car. The driver, 19, was arrested for possession.
Police pulled over a car traveling on Westchester Avenue at 6:58 p.m. when the driver was observed not wearing a seatbelt. After noticing the smell of marijuana, police found a large plastic bag containing the drug and arrested a 23-year-old New Rochelle male on possession charges.
At 6:08 p.m., a traffic stop on Westchester Avenue revealed that the car’s operator, 36, was operating his vehicle with a suspended license. He was booked and released on bail.
Police stopped a car traveling on Halstead Avenue at 7:20 p.m. and it was revealed that the vehicle’s registration had been suspended. The operator was issued a summons.
