Police Blotter Harrison 8-8-2014

Collected at Harrison Police Headquarters on Tuesday Aug. 5 at 8:30 a.m.


July 12

Police were called to the corner of the Hutchinson River Parkway and North Street at 6:27 a.m. on a report of a man sleeping in a van. Police arrived on the scene to find the driver asleep behind the wheel with the motor running. The driver, police discovered, was operating the vehicle with a suspended license. Officers also asked him to perform a field sobriety test, which he failed.

The driver was placed under arrest for DWI and refused to submit to a chemical test to determine the alcohol content of his blood.


At 8:46 p.m., police stopped a vehicle for speeding on Mamaroneck Avenue. The driver of the vehicle appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and failed a field sobriety test before submitting to a breathalyzer. Upon a positive screening for alcohol, he was placed under arrest for DWI. A subsequent search of his wallet uncovered a small Ziploc bag containing a white, powdery substance thought to be cocaine.


July 17

At 3:58 p.m., police stopped a vehicle traveling on White Plains Avenue because of a defective brake light. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer detected the smell of marijuana in the car. The driver admitted to smoking marijuana cigarettes in the vehicle. A subsequent search revealed two partially-smoked cigarettes. The driver was charged with possession and released for a return court date.


At 5: 34 p.m., police pulled over a vehicle traveling down White Plains Avenue for a defective brake light. Police officers noticed two vials of yellow pills in the car that were identified as Hydrocodone. The driver could not produce a prescription for the pills and was booked on controlled possession charges.


July 18

Police were called to a Halstead Avenue parking lot at 6:30 a.m. by a man who claimed a man had been trying to break into the vehicle. When police arrived, the man who reported the crime was waiting with the suspect who had smashed his car window with a large brick. Police arrested the suspect for criminal mischief.


July 19

At 7:45 p.m., police responded to a two-car accident on Harrison Avenue. The driver of one of the cars appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and failed a field sobriety test. She was booked on DWI charges.


July 20

At 5:21 p.m., police stopped a car traveling on Westchester Avenue. The driver admitted to officers he was in possession of K2, synthetic marijuana, which he had purchased in Connecticut. An investigation of the car turned up several open alcoholic beverages and a black stolen purse. The driver was also found to have given cops false identification upon being stopped. He is facing possession and theft charges.


July 23

At 8:22 p.m., a vehicle traveling on Westchester Avenue was stopped by police for a loud, modified muffler. Police notice the smell of marijuana emanating from the car. The driver admitted to smoking marijuana an hour prior to operating the vehicle. Police searched the driver and found a bag containing marijuana residue and a substance believed to be cocaine. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.


July 26

At 3:30 a.m., police noticed a car trying to park on Edward Street. The driver exited the car and seemed to have an impairment of balance, using the car to steady himself. Ronsheim failed a subsequent field sobriety test and was placed under arrest for DWI.
