Read aloud adaptations of teen novels
Teen/tween readers’ theatre
Wednesday, Aug. 14, from 4 p.m.

Open to grades 5 through 10.
Read real adaptations of teen novels that have been performed in Chicago Theaters. Table read them and bring them to life. Librarian Emma Caywood has worked as a director and actress in the Chicago Theater and as a monologue coach in Los Angeles. Beginner’s sewing
Learn hand sewing with basic stitches, basting and hemming. Work on a different project each week.

Summer reading game

Stop by the Mamaroneck Children’s Library to register, receive your log, report and play this year’s game. Read for fun, prizes and the End of Summer Reading Celebration in September. Open to all independent readers in grades K through 6.

Dig into diggers
Ages 5 to 7. Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 4 pm. Put on your hard hats and be prepared to do some heavy painting. Let’s dig into these fun truck ornaments and get down and dirty with a truck storytime as well. Register by calling 914-834-2281 beginning Monday, July 15.

Dig into CSI with the Larchmont
Police Department
Ages 8 to 11. Thursday, Aug. 15 at 4 p.m. There is a crash…then a bang…and a crime has been committed at the library. Help Larchmont Det. Matthew Irvine decode the clues and find out whodunnit. You’ll dig into crime scene investigation and learn how the police solve crimes. Register in person or by calling 914-834-2281 beginning Monday, July 15.

I-Spy-Digging Dinosaurs
Ages 5 to 7. Tuesday, Aug. 20 at 4 pm. Dinosaur books are some of the best, and we’ll read a bunch. Then we will make our own Dino-Spy Bottles, filled with hiding dinosaurs that can provide many hours of fun I-Spying. Register in person or by calling 914-834-2281 beginning Monday, July 15.

Dinosaur Romp
Tuesday, Aug. 27. Ages 3 and 4 at 10:30am. Ages 5 and up at 3:30pm. Ages 3 and 4: Join us to sing dino songs, read dino books and play dino games. We’ll party like its 200 B.C. Ages 5 and up: Together, we’ll explore dinosaurs and fossils by reading and digging and sifting. Come join the fun.

5th Annual Pink Party
Ages 3 and up. Wednesday, Aug. 28 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Think pink, dress your best, and come to our Pink-tacular Party. There will be bedazzling crafts, pink cupcakes and more pink than you can imagine. Tiaras are welcome and highly encouraged. Registration not required, but attendance is limited to the first 175 people.

Summer Reading Game: Dig Into Reading
For readers and read-to-mes. Friday, Aug. 30. Register online or in person to win prizes for reading all summer long. Readers win a prize for every three hours spent reading, and read-to-mes for every two hours. For a special challenge, ask at the Children’s Room circulation desk about our Dig Into Reading Treasure Maps.

Family matinee movie
“42”. Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 11 a.m. or 2:30 p.m. Meet in the Village Center. Starring Chadwick Boseman, Harrison Ford and Nicole Beharie. The life story of Jackie Robinson and his history-making signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers under the guidance of team executive Branch Rickey. Rated PG-13. No registration required.

Super Smash Bros. championship
Fifth to eighth grade. Monday, Aug. 26 at 6:30 p.m. Meet in the Michael P. Coords Activity Room. The winner will receive a $25 Amazon gift card. Drinks and snacks will be available. Register in person or by calling 914-834-2281 beginning Monday, July 15.
