Writer’s space in Larchmont Public Library
Starting July 8, there will be a dedicated Writers’ Space every Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Michael P. Coords Activity Room off the Children’s Room at Larchmont Library. Bring your computer, coffee and creativity and join other writers to work and network.

Summer reading game

Stop by the Mamaroneck Children’s Library to register, receive your log, report and play this year’s game. Read for fun, prizes and the End of Summer Reading Celebration in September. Open to all independent readers in grades K through 6.

I-Spy-Digging Dinosaurs
Ages 5 to 7. Tuesday, Aug. 20 at 4 pm. Dinosaur books are some of the best, and we’ll read a bunch. Then we will make our own Dino-Spy Bottles, filled with hiding dinosaurs that can provide many hours of fun I-Spying. Register in person or by calling 914-834-2281 beginning Monday, July 15.
Dinosaur Romp
Tuesday, Aug. 27. Ages 3 and 4 at 10:30am. Ages 5 and up at 3:30pm. Ages 3 and 4: Join us to sing dino songs, read dino books and play dino games. We’ll party like its 200 B.C. Ages 5 and up: Together, we’ll explore dinosaurs and fossils by reading and digging and sifting. Come join the fun.
5th Annual Pink Party
Ages 3 and up. Wednesday, Aug. 28 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Think pink, dress your best, and come to our Pink-tacular Party. There will be bedazzling crafts, pink cupcakes and more pink than you can imagine. Tiaras are welcome and highly encouraged. Registration not required, but attendance is limited to the first 175 people.
Summer Reading Game: Dig Into Reading
For readers and read-to-mes. Friday, Aug. 30. Register online or in person to win prizes for reading all summer long. Readers win a prize for every three hours spent reading, and read-to-mes for every two hours. For a special challenge, ask at the Children’s Room circulation desk about our Dig Into Reading Treasure Maps.

Larchmont Public Library adult/teen programs:
Learn Lego Robotics
Fifth to eighth grade. Thursday, Aug. 22 from 6 p.m to 8 p.m.. Meet in the Michael P. Coords Activity Room. This exciting program teaches you how to build and program LEGO Mindstorms NXT Robots. You’ll use your new skills to meet such challenges as beating your opponent at Sumo or pushing water bottles out of a ring. The program will introduce programming concepts such as repeat loops and if/then statements. Use of sensors will also be taught. No robotics or programming experience required. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to take our robots home. Register in person or by calling (914) 834-2281.
Super Smash Bros. championship
Fifth to eighth grade. Monday, Aug. 26 at 6:30 p.m. Meet in the Michael P. Coords Activity Room. The winner will receive a $25 Amazon gift card. Drinks and snacks will be available. Register in person or by calling 914-834-2281 beginning Monday, July 15.
Discover henna
Fifth to eighth grade. Thursday, Aug. 29 at 6:30 p.m. Meet in the Michael P. Coords Activity Room. Margie Nugent, an FIT graduate and henna artist, will lead this program that explores the art of henna and henna design. Because some people’s skin may be sensitive to henna, a parental permission slip is required to be signed in order to do this program. Permission slips can be downloaded from the library website at www.larchmontlibrary.org, or you can pick on up in the library.
