One of the key players on the team, the junior started the season at 5-1, facing opponents from various traditionally strong squash teams including Greenwich, New Canaan and Darien High School from Connecticut as well as Hackley and Bronxville High School from New York.
“Michael is a great teammate,” fellow squash player Ryan Anderson said. “On the court, he plays hard for every single point. Off the court, he’s always there for his teammates.”
Coach Matt Bruno agrees.
“Michael Turner is a hard worker,” he said. “He is very motivated to play hard and practice hard. Michael is a team player and will do anything he is asked to help the team. He is a pleasure to have on the team.”
Although he trains all year for squash, Michael has other passions. In the summer, he volunteers at the Ward Summer Camp, a four-week reading, writing and literacy program in Port Chester, where he helps children keep up with their studies. When not training for squash or working at the Ward Summer Camp, Michael spends his free time working on his other interest, writing and recording music. Michael has his own music on iTunes as well as on a newly established website. Michael has gotten more than 500,000 views on the first four videos he uploaded to YouTube.
