After qualifying and competing in the New York State Championships for an amazing third year in a row, Charlotte Nixon has been selected as the latest Athlete of the Week.

Nixon, a senior, is a co-captain of the Rye High School girls swim team that finished its regular season dual meets with a record of 6-2 including wins over teams like Harrison and Byram Hills. The team placed third in divisionals and eighth in Section I.

Charlotte finished third in the section in the 200-meter Individual Medley and sixth in the 100-meter Breaststroke.

At states, Charlotte represented Rye and Section 1 in both the 200-meter Individual Medley and the 100-meter Breaststroke. When she is not swimming for Rye, Charlotte swims for the Empire Swim Club throughout the year.

“Charlotte has had a great swim season,” swim coach Shannon Bolger said. “As a co-captain, she led the team to a 5-2 dual meet season. She is a strong versatile competitor.”

Teammate Norah Murphy agreed.

“Charlotte’s energetic and positive attitude towards swimming drives our team to be the best that we can be,” Murphy said. “Her leadership is motivating and inspiring, both in and out of the pool.”

Though she is still deciding which college to attend, Charlotte is determined to continue swimming at the next level.
