With four goals and three assists on the season so far, senior Alex Bennett leads the Garnet’s varsity field hockey team both on and off the field.
“Alex Bennett has played four seasons for me and is one of the best athletes I have ever coached,” head coach Emily Fitzgerald said. “She constantly accepts challenges, takes risks and has no fears. Having these characteristics, a student athlete has nowhere to go but to the top. Combined with her intelligence, athleticism, and personality, Alex is, by far, the best role model for the Rye field hockey program.”
Alex has developed into one of the most skillful players in Section I. With her endurance, agility, speed, and stick work, she can carry or pass the ball up the middle of the field to create many scoring opportunities in the offensive circle. Alex is the primary hitter on corners and has a lethal shot.
Bennett has given her verbal commitment to play for Williams College next year and has previously earned All State, All Section and All League honors.
Away from the field, Bennett donates her time to many volunteer activities, including Dinner at Noon, a program in which she helps provide the area’s hungry with hot meals.
